Pick this service if your MacBook Pro 13" Retina 2016-2020 (A1706/A1708/A1989/A2159/A2251/A2289/A2338) has liquid which has leaked inside the screen, but the screen itself is fully functioning (just has glowing liquid marks/stains inside). If your screen is also displaying line or bars along with the liquid marks, this repair will only resolve the issue with the liquid staining, and you will need the screen panel replaced at an additional cost (contact us). If you can also see the LEDs at the bottom of the screen, this may mean the backlight strip under the screen is damaged too, so please contact us before booking if this is the case.

When replacing the backlight sheets, we use genuine replacements (the same which are used during assembly of the lid in factory), not cheaper OEM or copy specification sheets, which are missing layers and often don't look the same as they should. Since we are not carrying out this process in a £300,000+ ISO 1 cleanroom lab (not feasible, since we are not mass manufacturing these like Apple), there is a possibility of a few particles of dust during reassembly, which may be visible on a white screen. We do our best to prevent this, but these are made up of multiple individually applied layers, with some being highly static, so this can happen. This will be very unnoticeable and a huge improvement compared to the original liquid damage!

Please note, due to the nature of the repair (removing the glued-in screen panel from the lid), there is always a risk of damage to the screen panel when performing this repair. This is extremely unlikely, since we have a specific method and tools to reduce the risk, but we have to make this clear; we cannot accept liability if your screen panel is damaged during the process. We have never had a screen fail since offering this service to customers, after perfecting this method whilst refurbishing our own screens, but since this is a very thin piece of glass glued to the aluminium frame, there is always a small risk.

If your lid is bent, or dented in at sides or corners, it may not be possible to replace the backlight sheets. Please email us with images before booking if this is the case.

We quote up to 7 working days for this repair to be carried out once received, and all backlight sheet replacements come with a 12 month warranty. Also in the price, insured postage both ways (Mainland UK) at no charge.

    Will I lose my data during the repair?

    We receive a lot of MacBooks for repair, mainly sent in for data recovery purposes, and the repair itself won't affect the data as long as there was no data corruption as a result of the original damage.

    Yes, all repairs come with a 12 month warranty. We stand behind the work we carry out, and only use the best quality parts and techniques to ensure all MacBooks we repair last.

    What if you find other issues with my MacBook?

    If we notice any other issues during testing, we will be in touch to see if you would like the additional faults to be fixed at the same time, at a discounted price compared to our normal rates.
